Marco Drost

Head Operations & Maintenance

The choice to work at ASTRON was one I could make immediate. I wanted to enjoy working in a high tech environment, but also have the opportunity to keep developing myself. The beautiful surroundings in which ASTRON is located, the Dwingelderveld, made my decision very easy.

Personally I find it fascinating to realize an instrument together with a diverse team involving people of various disciplines, personalities and nationalities. We go through the entire process together, from development to implementation. Each stage has its own dynamics and thus requires other qualities. In the technical field, but also in terms of personal skills. This diversity makes the work inspiring and varied.

I really like the atmosphere at ASTRON. I work together with enthusiastic and skilled colleagues. This ensures that the atmosphere at ASTRON is always good. You work here because you like it, and this is something you will notice.

Besides my daily technical work I’m active in the works council. I can highly recommend this to everybody, because you get a lot of insight in the functioning of the organization. It becomes clear why ASTRON developes in a certain direction. And it gives an extra dimension to my work at ASTRON.
