Bram Veenboer

PhD researcher

After studying computer science I wanted to continue in the direction of my master: High Performance Computing. Besided, I wanted to get my doctorate, so I ended up at ASTRON. At ASTRON there was a nice position available within the Dome project.

At Dome I can apply the theory into practice and I can immerse myself further into the world of accelerators. With accelerators it revolves around rapidly performing astronomical calculations.

I find the great diversity at ASTRON interesting. I have colleagues with diverse backgrounds and expertise. We work together to build the ultimate radio telescope, to then gain new insights into the universe. I find this very inspiring.

Personally I like to keep myself busy with challenging issues, while having the latest technologies at my disposal. For questions you can always turn to colleagues, and there is always room for discussion. This way next to helping eachoter you come to new insights too.

ASTRON is a nice employer for me. Because of the combination of interesting work, the great group of colleagues and the atmosphere.

The choice to work at ASTRON was one I could make immediate. I wanted to enjoy working in a high tech environment, but also have the opportunity to keep developing myself. The beautiful surroundings in which ASTRON is located, the Dwingelderveld, made my decision very easy.
