Andre Gunst

Group leader

My work at ASTRON is very interesting! Mainly because I can solve many challenging and complex problems. To solve these problems, I use the latest technologies. I think it's important that I help astronomers to unravel the puzzle of the universe.

The most inspiring of my work is that I work together with colleagues from different departments every day, each with their own expertise. During my daily activities I like working with my colleagues the most. Together we develop complex systems. Later these systems come to 'life', isn’t that fantastic? I am therefore very satisfying to see that these systems work

But the biggest thrill I feel is when an astronomer is excited about an instrument developed by us. Especially if because of that instrument discoveries are made that will help the astronomer further in understanding the universe.
